Abstract:Androgens is the most important substance determining male characteristics in the body, and its physiological effects span all stages of male life. Endothelial cell damage is involved in the occurrence and development of various chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and male reproductive disorders. Androgens mainly affects endothelial cell function by binding to the androgen receptor, and can also be converted to estrogen to exert partial effects. Its main pathways include regulating inflammation, oxidative stress, cell proliferation, apoptosis and migration, and lipid metabolism. Physiological levels of androgens have a protective effect, while abnormal levels may have damaging effects. This article reviews the role and mechanisms of androgens in regulating endothelial cell function, aiming to provide references for the prevention and treatment of related diseases.
