Abstract:Abstract: Objective To evaluate the short-term therapeutic effect of Docetaxel combine with Cisplatin and 5-Fluorouracil (DPF) on local advanced tongue squamous carcinoma. Methods Totally 160 patients with tongue squamous cancer were involved in this study. About 74 patients in group A received DPF therapy, while 86 patients in group B was treated with Cisplatin plus 5-Fluorouracil. Clinical manifestations as well as outcome were recorded. Results Patients in group A experienced increased rate of complete release (CR) and partial release and decreased rate of no response (NR) compared with group B (P < 0.05). Side effects including grade III+Ⅳ leucopenia, grade I + II lose weight and grade III+Ⅳ oral mucosa reaction was more often in group A when compared with those in group B (P < 0.05), though all side effects were alleviated with specific treatments. No obvious difference in incidence of neutropenia related fever, anemia and thrombocytopenia was identified between two groups. Conclusions DPF for local advanced tongue squamous carcinoma is potentially a promising therapeutic option with increased rate of side effects.
