Abstract:Objective To analyze the risk factors of diabetes complicated with functional constipation and observe the clinical effect of biofeedback therapy. Methods A total of 390 patients with diabetes were investigated to assess the incidence of constipation. Logistic regression analysis was performed on the factors leading to constipation. Biofeedback therapy was performed on 162 patients with diabetes complicated with functional constipation (FC). Results The incidence of constipation in diabetic patients was 41.54%. Strict restriction of diet, excessive blood glucose level and peripheral neuropathy were risk factors for diabetic patients with FC (P < 0.05). The cure rate of biofeedback treatment for diabetes complicated with FC was 68.52%; the cure rate of export-oriented obstruction and slow transmitting obstruction was respectively 82.76% and 52.00% (P < 0.05). Before and after the treatment of export-type obstruction, the rectal perception threshold and the maximum rectal tolerance were compared, which were statisticly different (P < 0.05). Conclusions The incidence of diabetes complicated with FC is high. The clinical effect of biofeedback therapy for diabetes complicated with functional constipation is good, especially for export-type obstruction.
