Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase 8 (ADAM8) in esophageal carcinoma and its relationship with pathological grade and prognosis. Methods A total of 47 patients with surgical treatment of esophageal cancer in our hospital were selected. The expression of ADAM8 in esophageal carcinoma tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry and the pathological features were collected. The relationship between ADAM8 and prognosis was analyzed. Results Compared with normal esophageal tissues, the expression of ADAM8 in esophageal carcinoma tissues was significantly higher than that in normal esophageal tissues (P?0.05). By χ2 or rank sum test, ADAM8 expression in high tumor grade, III-IV stage and lymph node metastasis patients was higher than that in low tumor grade, I-II stage, without lymph node metastasis patients respectively, and the differences were statistically significant (P?0.05). By long-rank survival analysis, the mortality of patients was significant different with different expression of ADAM8 (P?0.05). Conclusions The expression of ADAM8 is up-regulated in esophageal carcinoma, and has certain reference value in judging the pathological characteristics and prognosis of esophageal carcinoma patients.
