Abstract:Schizophrenia is a complicated and serious brain disease with unknown etiology. The disability rate is extremely high and the lifetime prevalence rate is 0.5%. At present, the drug treatment effect for positive symptoms of schizophrenia is relatively significant, but the treatment effect for negative symptoms and cognitive impairment is still unsatisfactory, which may be related to its complicated pathological mechanism. Among them, the activation of astrocytes in the central nervous system is closely related to the pathogenesis of schizophrenia, especially to the occurrence of cognitive impairment. Therefore, it is urgent to clarify the pathogenesis and treatment strategy of cognitive impairment in schizophrenia. The following is a summary of the recent research progress on the pathological mechanism related to cognitive dysfunction and astrocyte activation in schizophrenia patients.
