Abstract:With the increasing aging population in China, the number of patients with osteoporosis is as well on the rise, and the onset age gradually tends to be younger. Various factors such as sex hormones, decreased calcium absorption, and the effects of certain inflammatory factors may contribute to osteoporosis. Generally, osteoporosis secondary to other disorders accounts for the vast majority. Some rheumatic diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis can cause osteoporosis, which may be related to certain inflammatory factors such as tumor necrosis factor and interleukin. This article will provide a detailed review of the pathogenesis and treatment of osteoporosis secondary to rheumatoid arthritis.
