Abstract:Abstract: Objective To evaluate the impact of autonomy supporting health education on the self-efficacy and happiness of primary caregivers of elderly hemodialysis patients. Methods The 90 pairs of patients and primary caregivers were divided into control group and observation group according to the dialysis time. The control group had 46 pairs, the observation group had 44 pairs. The control group took routine nursing, the observation group implemented independent support health education on the basis of routine nursing. The self-efficacy and happiness were evaluated and compared between the two groups after 3-month intervention. Results After health education, the score of self-efficacy of the caregivers of the observation group was (24.26 ± 5.99), the score of happiness was (82.36 ± 13.97), the score of satisfaction and interest in life was (6.56 ± 1.43), the score of worry about health was (9.79 ± 2.31), the score of energy was (19.27 ± 4.41), the score of sad or happy mood was (18.25 ± 3.38), the score of control of emotion and behavior was (13.27 ± 1.80), the score of relaxation and tension was (20.20 ± 4.24), all the scores were significantly higher than those of the control group. Conclusions The autonomy supporting health education can improve their level of self-efficacy and happiness in primary caregivers of elderly hemodialysis patients. This will help to reduce the burden of the caregivers, improve the quality of care for the patients.
