Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of miR-31 in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), and analyze the relationship of its expression with clinicopathological features and prognosis. Methods qRT-PCR was performed to detect miR-31 expression in the EOC tissues. The correlations of miR-31 expression with follow-up results and clinicopathological factors of the EOC patients were analyzed. Results The expression of miR-31 in the EOC tissues was reduced significantly compared with the adjacent normal tissues (P < 0.05). Low expression of miR-31 was correlated with higher histological grade, lymph node metastasis, peritoneal metastasis, and higher FIGO stage(P < 0.05), but was irrelevant with other clinical pathological factors (P > 0.05). In addition, the expression of miR-31 was an independent prognostic factor for overall survival of the patients. Conclusions It is possible that miR-31 serves as a diagnostic and prognostic marker in clinical practice.
