Abstract:Objective To explore the influence of trans-theoretical model of health education on self-care ability of patients with permanent colostomy. Methods Total 104 patients with permanent colostomy were randomly divided into control group (52 cases) and experimental group (52 cases). Patients in two groups took routine hospital health education method and health education method of the trans-theoretical model respectively. After intervention self-care ability of patients were measured. Results In the experimental group, significant differences were observed in different stage before and after the intervention (P < 0.05). After intervention, there were significant differences in the number of patients in the two groups (P < 0.05). In the experimental group, significant difference was observed in patient self-care ability score before and after the intervention (P < 0.05). After intervention self-care ability of patients in experimental group was significantly higher than control group (P < 0.05). Conclusions The trans-theoretical model of health education can effectively improve the self-care ability of permanent colostomy patients.
