Abstract:Objective To evaluate the satisfaction about applying mind map to health education of children with leukemia. Methods The children with leukemia who were admitted to Pediatric Department of our hospital from September 2014 to August 2015 were enrolled into observation group (n = 62), they accepted mind mapping health education. The children with leukemia who were admitted between July 2013 and August 2014 were into control group (n = 63), they received conventional health education. The satisfaction of children and their parents on health education was collected and compared between the two groups, and the evaluation about two health education methods by nurses was also collected and compared. Results The satisfaction on health education in the observation group was (26.29 ± 2.96), that in the control group was (23.60 ± 3.22), the difference was statistically significant (t = 4.858, P < 0.05). The evaluation about the mind mapping by nurses was (27.47 ± 3.91), that about the conventional method was (20.59 ± 4.81), the difference was statistically significant (t = 4.579,P < 0.05). Conclusions Mind mapping health education can raise the satisfaction of children with leukemia, and nurses appreciate this method.
