Abstract:Objective To study the economic burden of the patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) in China and its influencing factors. Methods A total of 495 patients with Parkinson's disease were investigated. The basic data of the patients and their families, as well as the cost of PD expenditure in the whole year of 2014 were collected. Hoehn-Yahr grading scale was used to assess the level of the patient's condition. SPSS 22.0 correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to determine the status of the economic burden of Chinese PD patients and its related influencing factors. Results The average annual economic burden of Chinese PD patients was 29,718 yuan, of which the average of direct medical cost was 21,035 yuan, and the average of direct non-medical costs was 6,042 yuan, and the average of indirect costs was 2,641 yuan. Survey sample indicators found that the relevance of the patient's regional distribution, family income and the insured situation on the part of the cost of the impact. The multiple regression analysis showed that the severity of illness and the degree of education influence the economic burden of PD patients. Conclusions The economic burden of the disease is very serious in Chinese PD patients. The severity of the disease, regional distribution, educational level, family income and other factors affect the economic burden in varying degrees.
