Abstract:Objective To study the change of cornea shape and refractive status after orthokeratology discontinuation. Methods A total of 30 patients (52 eyes) with a history of wearing and discontinuation of wearing corneal shape mirror were included. All the patients were divided into group A (stop wearing time < 1 month), group B (1 month ≤ stop wearing time < 3 months) and group C (stop wearing time ≥3 months). The cornea shape and refractive status after orthokeratology discontinuation were compared. Results The central corneal thickness, corneal K value, steep K value, average K value and SRI after orthokeratology discontinuation were significantly lower than those before wearing in the groups A and B (P < 0.05). After orthokeratology discontinuation, the central corneal thickness, corneal K value, steep K value, average K value and SRI in the groups A and B were obviously lower than those in the group C with significant differences (P < 0.05); while there were no differences in eyeglass degree and astigmatism degree after orthokeratology discontinuation in the three groups (P > 0.05). Conclusions The corneal morphology and central corneal thickness return to the original levels after three months of discontinuation of orthokeratology. The myopia had no significant progression after discontinuation.
