Abstract:Objective To investigate the protective effects of panax notoginseng powder on chronic liver injury and liver fibrosis induced by CCl4. Methods The model of CCl4-induced chronic liver injury and fibrosis in SD rats was established by hypodermic injection of 10% CCl4 in peanut oil. Biochemical criteria were measured respectively, including ALT, AST, IL-1, IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α in serum, and MDA, SOD, GSH, GSH-PX, Cyt.P450 and Cyt.b5 in liver homogenate. And HE dyeing, histopathological changes in liver were observed on the effects of panax notoginseng powder through the microscope. Results The levers of ALT, AST were decreased, and the activity of Cyt.P450 and Cyt.b5 enzyme was promoted. The levels of SOD, GSH and GSH-Px were enhanced, and the level of MDA were reduced, and the activity of IL-1, IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α was inhibited observably in liver. Conclusions Panax notoginseng powder has been proved to possess significant effects on the liver fibrosis and injury induced by CCl4.
