Abstract:Alzheimer's disease is a common neurodegenerative disease whose pathogenesis involves a variety of complex factors. As a traditional therapeutic method, acupuncture has attracted much attention in recent years and has demonstrated certain efficacy in clinical practice. Delving into the mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease, we integrate Traditional Chinese Medicine theories of disease with the modern pathophysiological mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease. In this paper, we also emphasize the potential mechanisms and advancements of acupuncture treatment in areas such as synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter secretion, amyloid-beta deposition, tau protein phosphorylation, and microglial-mediated neuroinflammation, and provides an overview of the involved neural pathways.
